Megan Badgley-Malone
Staff Recognition

During the pandemic stay-at-home order, Megan Badgley-Malone quickly pivoted to maintain researchers’ access to the University Archives (UA) collections, by adapting “normal” processes and creating new procedures and workflows. To document researcher needs, Megan converted paper registration forms to Google forms, and updated our invoice and authorization form to an online fillable option. She was involved in the Reopening Committees for both UA and Special Collections. Megan developed detailed procedures for sending UA archival materials from Conrad Hall to the Reading Room at Main.

Megan also created a workflow  so that an ongoing in-person Civil War project could continue as a virtual internship. When physical exhibit space became unavailable, she co-created the blog series, “The First Ten Women at M.A.C.” to celebrate the 150th anniversary of the first women at MSU. Megan also took part in developing anti-racist catalog terms as part of the cataloging records working group.

To capture records of the pandemic era at MSU, Megan established a process for Spartans to submit stories, photographs, and videos documenting their experiences, an asset for researchers in the future. This was an addition to the regular work as the Collections and Outreach Archivist.
