Outreach

University Archives & Historical Collections (UAHC) is interested in promoting greater awareness of collections and reaching out to new audiences. We view archives as the living memory of our community and want to share that history with anyone who is interested in learning about it.  We welcome inquiries from faculty, teachers, and community groups for collaborative projects, tours, and presentations.

MSU Classes

University Archives & Historical Collections (UAHC) staff are happy to work with teaching faculty at MSU to incorporate primary source materials into the learning process. All tours, orientations, and class visits can be arranged to incorporate specific topics.

UAHC provides the following services to MSU faculty members:

  • Access to materials for course assignments
  • Presentations in the archives to small classes (less than 25 students) about using archives and doing research with primary materials
  • In-class presentations to large classes about using archives and researching with primary materials
  • Tours for small groups

To request a class instruction session at UAHC, please complete this Session Request form and email it to archives@msu.edu.

Community Outreach

Archivists are available to give presentations to community groups about using the archives and collections. These presentations are free of charge for groups and locations within a reasonable driving distance of the MSU campus.

If you are interested in having an archivist speak to your group, please contact University Archives & Historical Collections at (517) 355-2330 or archives@msu.edu

K–12

Archivists from University Archives & Historical Collections (UAHC) visit K–12 classrooms for no charge provided that they are within a reasonable driving distance from East Lansing. Our archivists can bring primary resources to show students and talk to them about a variety of topics.
