Machines
The first-ever story machine was created by Short Édition, a French company and independent publisher of short literature and poetry. At the push of a button, a short story or poem from writers across the world is printed on papyrus paper.
In August 2019, Michigan State University Libraries entered into an agreement with Short Édition to bring four short story dispensers to Mid-Michigan. In addition to dispensing stories by international authors, these machines will dispense original Michigan State student, faculty and staff, and community writing into the hands of the public and encourage dialogue between readers and authors.
Currently, the Short Édition machines are located in the Main Library, at the MSU Broad, at the East Lansing Public Library, and at the Capital Region International Airport.
