Data Axle Reference Solutions Historical Business Data (1997-2023)

Data Axle Reference Solutions Historical Business (formerly known as ReferenceUSA Historical Business) data collection provides access to company profiles from 1997 through 2023. Variables include company name, address, SIC/NAICS codes, employee size, sales, latitude/longitude, and more. ReferenceUSA is a product of Data Axle, formerly Infogroup.

Access to Data Axle Reference Solutions data is limited to current MSU affiliates only and requires login with your MSU NetID and password. Redistribution is not permitted.

You can download the data in two format:

Please note: the expanded data files are extremely large and will take some time to download. Average file size is about 6 GB. We advise you to download the compressed files. Files will not open in Excel or Notepad due to their large size. The files will need to be used in a statistical program such as Stata, SPSS or SAS to search/filter/sort and to extract subsets of interest.
