This project involves a collection of late 1940s and early 50s sixteen inch transcription discs from the Kalamazoo Valley Museum. These were recordings of radio broadcasts originally aired in Michigan on WKZO and WJR radio. Most are tracked from the inside to the outer groove at 33 1/3 rpm to provide about a 15 minute length program. The recordings include political speeches, local public service programming, and a few entertaining shows like "The Bunkhouse Jamboree". They are composed of an aluminum core material coated with shellac. Once the records are cleaned, they are digitized and added to the Vincent Voice Library. |
