Cyrillic Transliteration
The Michigan State University Library Catalog (MAGIC) and most other library catalogs in the United States use the Library of Congress Slavic Transliteration system to transliterate Cyrillic alphabet words into the Latin alphabet. When looking for Russian or other Cyrillic alphabet titles using the online catalog, is it very important to use the correct transliteration system, or you may not be able to find any of the titles that you are seeking. The table below shows how to transliterate Cyrillic letters into the Latin alphabet for the Russian language.
Additional guides to transliteration of other Slavic and
non-Slavic Cyrillic alphabet languages can be found at the Slavic
Cataloging Manual website.
