Technical Services Tools - General Tools & Links: T Loc H searching procedure

ALWAYS initial and date the streamer each time you search.

Books which have been on the T Loc H shelves for at least 6 months may be searched on OCLC to see if acceptable copy is now available.

Search OCLC by ISBN, title (3,2,2,1), or author/title (4,4). 'Scan Title' searches may be done in either Connexion Client or WorldCat through FirstSearch.

OCLC SEARCH RESULTS

ACTION

Complete copy found: author/title, publication information and pagination match; acceptable 050 or 090 call number is present plus at least one 6XX subject heading with second indicator '0' (zero)

  • Initial/date the streamer
  • Apply PromptCat "sort" (if applicable)
  • Catalog if copy matches "sort"
  • Transfer to Copy Cataloging shelves if copy does NOT match "sort"

Copy found; no call number/no acceptable call number or anal call number (for items we don't analyze)

  • Initial/date the streamer
  • Return to the "to be T Loc H'd" truck

No copy found

  • Initial/date the streamer
  • Retrieve the order record from MAGIC
  • If the book has been assigned to T Loc H for less than 1 year return the book to the "to be T Loc H'd" truck
  • If the book has been assigned to T Loc H for more than 1 year transfer to the "to be T Loc A'd" truck

Related copy found

  • Initial/date the streamer
  • Transfer to 'related copy' shelves

Notes:

For IEEE standards and volumes in the Computer Bible series, transfer to 'Leah's cataloging' shelves if copy is found. If copy is not found, transfer to the appropriate 'to be t loc'd' truck.
