A temporary location (T Loc) is a holding area for books lacking acceptable cataloging copy.
A note will be added to the order record on MAGIC specifying which T Loc a title has been assigned to, and the date that assignment was made.
Within each monographs T Loc, books will be shelved by the date (month/day/year) they were assigned to that location. For serials T Locs, materials are shelved by the month (month/year) they were assigned to the location.
T Loc H(oldings):
For newly received monographs (including gifts and cat seps and SOME PromptCat titles) either lacking copy or having incomplete or related copy. Incomplete copy is defined as a record lacking a useable call number and/or subject headings. T Loc H monographs will be searched at the end of 6 months, and if complete copy is found delivered to the appropriate cataloging workflow. If complete copy is not found they will be re-assigned to T Loc H for another 6 months. If after two searching rounds (one year) copy is still lacking or incomplete the monograph will be transferred either to T Loc A (no copy), to COPY CAT PROBLEMS in Current Processing (copy lacking call number/subject headings), or to the "related copy" shelves.
T Loc A(rrearage):
For monographs lacking copy. This location will be searched regularly (at least once per year). If complete, incomplete, or related copy is found through the search the monograph will be transferred to the appropriate cataloging workflow.
T Loc S(erials):
For serials lacking copy.
T Loc HS(Holdings Serials):
For newly received serials without copy or with inadequate or related copy.
