Monograph rush books are picked up once daily at 11:00 a.m. by a labeling team member.

All labeling work must be completed on the material the same day it is picked up. If the rush book quantity is very large for one day, Browsing material without a patron notify, may be held to process the next day.

The monograph rush truck with material processed in Acquisitions is located in their main aisle, across from the large wooden table. This truck should be moved to labeling to hold the titles as they are being processed.

Monograph rush materials processed in DataCat and the BE team will be found on a shelf in the main aisle, across from W128. As the truck from Acquisitions is moved to labeling, these materials should be placed on it.

Rush material should be picked up at the time specified, kept together on the Acquisitions rush truck, and when the labeling work is completed, the material should be moved to the DataCat rush truck located in front of the green filing cabinet by the transfer/withdrawal shelves. The rush truck from Acquisitions should be returned to its location in that unit when the completed material is moved off of it.

The material on the monograph rush truck should be counted to note the quantities in the categories on the rush truck statistic sheet.

All flags and streamers found in the material should be left in the pieces.

Most rush material should be processed following the usual guidelines for labeling materials.
Some material requires different processing:

REFERENCE

  1. Does not get a date due slip.
  2. A letter "R" should be placed above the call number label.

BROWSING

  1. Browsing pieces are not stamped Browsing over the call number. The presence of the book jacket on the piece means it is destined for that location.
  2. A special date due slip is used for this material and it is placed on the first fly of the piece.
  3. Two labels are used, one placed on the piece and one placed on the book jacket.
  4. Book jackets are covered with a plastic cover.
  5. A piece without a book jacket but destined for Browsing should have an orange flag in it noting the piece is for that collection. A "Browsing" label should be placed by the call number label on the piece.
