Procedures - Receiving & paying: Software testing procedure

Software and supplemental software is not tested prior to cataloging.
There are two exceptions: 1) if the software/supplemental software format is a 3 1/2 in. square disk and/or 2) the purchase price of the piece is over $500. For either of these circumstances we will continue to send the piece upstairs for testing prior to cataloging.
Put another way, we will no longer be testing ROUND software and supplemental software (unless the piece costs more than $500) but we will continue to test software and supplemental software that is SQUARE.
RECEIVING procedure for software/supplemental software:
1. For software packages in CD format and for books containing supplemental software in CD format,
- complete
receiving steps as usual EXCEPT do not include the blue software testing
streamer
- transfer
the piece to the to be cataloged
shelf in the software cabinet
- for "rush",
course reserves, and patron notifies, add the appropriate red or yellow
flag and transfer the piece directly to the rush
shelf in DataCat
- this procedure
applies to ALL ONLINE CATALOG locations
- EXCEPTION: if the purchase price is over $500 follow the procedure below for 3 1/2 in. disks.
2. For 3 1/2 in. software disks (both software packages and supplemental software included with a book),
- complete
receiving steps as usual -- complete the blue software testing streamer
and attach it to the piece along with the p.o. slip or "innovacq" streamer
- transfer
the piece to the to be tested shelf
in the software cabinet
- for "rush",
course reserves, and patron notifies, add the appropriate red or yellow
flag before transferring the piece to the cabinet
- this procedure applies to ALL ONLINE CATALOG locations, and to software and supplemental software in both CD and 3 1/2 in. square disk formats when the purchase price is over $500
