If a Cataloging and Metadata Services team member has searched OCLC for a series authority record and not found one, a NACO series authority record should be created and submitted to the Series Review File on the server, for Jim Latchney to review.
To create a new series authority record in Connexion:
- Within your bibliographic record, put the cursor on the 440 or 830 field.
- Go to Tools in the toolbar and choose Macros > Manage (or do: Ctrl+Alt+Shift+G).
- Open the OCLC list and select GenerateAuthorityRecord.
- Click Run. A new series authority record will be created.
- Edit the record as necessary.
- Validate the record (you must be online for this.) If the series authority record already exists, Connexion will tell you. In this case, re-search the Authority file to find the authority record that Connexion says exists. If it matches your piece, use it. If not, you may need to add a qualifier to your 1XX to break the conflict.
- Save your new authority record to your local save file.
- Move or copy the record to the Series Review File on the server (Action > Move [or Copy] Record and choose sar_review.auth.db).
- Jim Latchney will review the record and email you about any changes that are needed.
