Spoken Word Audio Discs
Spoken word audio (sound) discs are cataloged on the Sound Recordings workform, as Type i , Non-musical sound recordings.
For copy, confirm that the record has:
- 007 beginning with sd
- fixed field Fmus = n
- fixed field Comp = nn
- LTxt with an appropriate value (e.g., f for Fiction, for a novel on disc ; or z for Other)
- the correct date (usually type s for a single date, or type p for original date plus date of production)

an appropriate genre/form term (655 field). For someone reading a book aloud, use Audiobooks. For copy, the term may appear as either:

or - 655 _0 Audiobooks.

The GMD in the 245 field is|h [sound recording].
The 300 field uses the term sound disc (e.g., 6 sound discs)
There should be either a 500 or a 538 field with the type of disc. The most common term will be Compact disc.
For the 050/090, MSU uses an LC number is followed by Audiodisc. (e.g., E743 |b .B43 2005 Audiodisc)
For multi-disc sets, include an 866 _1 field. (e.g., disc 1-disc 6).
If each disc is in a separate case, the volume field for each item record would read: disc 1, disc 2, etc. If all six discs are in the same case, the volume field would read: discs 1-6.
Workstats code is aud.

If possible, leave the audio discs in their original packaging. Attach a yellow stickie with the location and call number and put in the non-print cabinet in Catalog Maintenance.
