Procedures - Copy cataloging: Copy cataloging procedure for PromptCat titles
Page Editor: Leah Black
Last Updated:February 17, 2006
If no OCLC bib record was supplied for an approval or firm order PromptCat shelf ready book, the PromptCat processor will transfer the book to the Copy Cataloging workflow.
These titles will be identified by the presence of a blue PromptCat streamer. The first section of the flag (NO OCLC BIB RECORD SUPPLIED) will be checked.
Cataloging for these titles will follow the normal copy cataloging procedure (see Copy Cataloging Procedures). When cataloging is complete, transfer the book to the CP LABELING TRUCK in Current Processing. Leave the blue PromptCat streamer in the book.
If no OCLC copy or inadequate OCLC copy (lacking call number/subjects) is found, transfer the book to the "to be T Loc H'd" truck. Leave the blue PromptCat streamer in the book, along with the receiving ("MAGIC") streamer listing the purchase order number and location.
PromptCat books with spine labels attached should NOT be transferred to the Copy Cataloging workflow.
