Dell GX620

DVD/CD Dual Layer Drive
Tray Loading
Dual Layer drives are capable of burning up to 8.5 gigabytes of data on special dual layer discs (DVD -DL).

The drives can also burn 4.7 gigabytes of data on all formats of DVD discs, including DVD+, DVD+RW, DVD-, DVD-RW.

The drive will also work with standard CD-R, CD-RW disks to burn up to 700 megabytes of data.

Gateway E-4300

Dell GX270

DVD/CD Single Layer Drive

This drive can burn 4.7 gigabytes of data to only one type of DVD format of DVD discs: DVD+, DVD+RW

The drive will also work with standard CD-R, CD-RW disks to burn up to 700 megabytes of data.

CAUTION: Using any type of DVD-R, DVD-RW or DVD-DL media in this system may burn-out or damage the DVD optical lens, rendering it incapable of burning any disk media.

Dell GX260

CD Drive

Select models of this workstation are equipped with CD Drives. These models only support playback of CD-R and CD-RW media. They do not have the ability to burn disks.
Located:1st, 2nd and 3rd Floor - East Wing;
1st, 2nd and 4th Floors - West Wing (Selected Resource workstations)

Macintosh iMac - Intel

Macintosh SuperDrive
Slot Loading

The Macintosh SuperDrive essentially performs the same functions as the high-end drives in the Dell and Gateway systems. The key difference is that this system uses a thin slot where you "feed" the disk into the workstation.

Dual Layer drives are capable of burning up to 8.5 gigabytes of data on special dual layer discs (DVD -DL).

The drives can also burn 4.7 gigabytes of data on all formats of DVD discs, including DVD+, DVD+RW, DVD-, DVD-RW.

The drive will also work with standard CD-R, CD-RW disks to burn up to 700 megabytes of data.

Macintosh G5

Macintosh SuperDrive

The Macintosh SuperDrive essentially performs the same functions as the high-end drives in the Dell and Gateway systems. However the G5 uses an older single layer and cannot support Dual Layer media.

This drive can burn 4.7 gigabytes of data on all formats of DVD discs, including, DVD-, DVD-RW.

The drive will also work with standard CD-R, CD-RW disks to burn up to 700 megabytes of data.

Macintosh G4
DVD/CD Drive

The drive in the early Macintosh models was a standard DVD Player with a CD Writable drive. These drives are capable of playing both DVD and CD media.

The drive will also work with standard CD-R, CD-RW disks to burn up to 700 megabytes of data.
