The Macintosh SuperDrive essentially performs the same functions as the high-end drives in the Dell and Gateway systems. The key difference is that this system uses a thin slot where you "feed" the disk into the workstation. Dual Layer drives are capable of burning up to 8.5 gigabytes of data on special dual layer discs (DVD -DL).

The Macintosh SuperDrive essentially performs the same functions as the high-end drives in the Dell and Gateway systems. However the G5 uses an older single layer and cannot support Dual Layer media. This drive can burn 4.7 gigabytes of data on all formats of DVD discs, including, DVD-, DVD-RW.
