Megan Schanz
Staff Recognition
MSUL’s Special Collections and the University Archives both used ArchivesSpace. They each had their information in separate instances of the application. ArchivesSpace is open-source software and therefore, not everything you’d like to be able to do has been developed. We wanted to merge the two instances after Archives joined the Libraries. By doing so, it meant that there would be less maintenance work on the two systems and enables our patrons easier use to find resources. Our developers met with developers from ArchivesSpace, but what help they provided wasn’t really helpful. Megan did a phenomenal job in writing code to merge the two instances of ArchivesSpace. While other developers did help, she did the majority of the work and deserves recognition for her persistence, her thoroughness, her attention to all the details, and simply, in making it work. When the merge happened, it was nearly flawless. I want to recognize her for all the effort and skill she used to make this project a success.
