Karen Keck
Staff Recognition
Karen Keck made outstanding adjustments so that she could continue important work during the pandemic work-at-home order. She organized projects that could shift to home work space on short notice, and came into the library as necessary. Her actions helped to ward off the potential for a very large backlog in Bindery Preparation. She adjusted her schedule to share time in the building safely with coworkers and to allow coverage during vacations.
Karen also kept our project with the loose issue current periodical collection on track. Those magazines moved three times over the last year, to improved space: Karen’s work to rearrange and organize the periodicals made sure the titles were all in proper order. This spring, the Libraries reached the goal of a new Popular Periodicals Reading Room space on 2-West. Karen took the lead with the list of titles, pulling them from the shelves and moving them herself up to the new area, with adjustments to accommodate late additions and avoid using the less-accessible bottom shelves. Karen suggested titles to include in Popular Periodicals, such as Time and National Geographic.
Karen’s thoughtfulness and dedication kept Bind Prep on schedule for both regular and special projects work.
