In late 2019, Melissa completed a project 8 years in the making with the publication of In the Founders Footprints: A History of Michigan State University’s W.K. Kellogg Biological Station. Melissa has been involved in this effort from its inception, dating back to 2012, and has resulted her successful collaboration with a host of faculty and staff at KBS. Melissa contributed critical archival work to the project by searching across multiple collections at KBS, the MSU Archives, the Kellogg Foundation, and others. Melissa’s work consisted of unearthing historical documents, photographs, and other materials for the book, securing permissions for use, and digitizing materials for inclusion in the book. Melissa’s inclusion in this project speaks to the quality of her work and is a demonstration of her full integration at KBS. Finally, Melissa continued to provide valuable feedback on the book up to the moment of publication, as her keen eye caught a typo in the final manuscript very shortly before publication.
