When the Library closed down, Kristina immediately stepped up to take on a larger role in the Makerspace by taking a leadership role in creating cloth masks for MSU staff to wear. Kristina trained displaced student workers on how to make the masks and set up an entire sewing production facility outside the makerspace so that the masks could be made efficiently and in a social-distancing manner. She also coordinated the intake and distribution of masks and materials, including the coordination of mailing masks to staff members' homes. Her dedication to this project meant that we had enough cloth masks to give several hundred to IPF as well as provide 5 masks for every MSU Libraries’ employee (and their families, if needed). In addition, Kristina was an important part of the 3D printing team, assembling and disinfecting face shields and delivering them for pickup. Kristina always has a smile on her face, a positive, can-do attitude, and cares deeply about our student workers, and she definitely deserves a staff award.
