- The front cover has no writing. It features a woman standing in a meadow, wearing a blue dress with a white apron. She is carrying a basket and a sprig of little red flowers, and is gazing into the distance with one hand on her hip. In the bottom left corner is printed the number "81." The back cover features an elegantly-dressed lady playing the piano but turning to gaze at the viewer. The inside is a child's coloring book with hidden figures in each illustration for the reader to locate. On the inside front cover it says, "The Foundation of a Child's Health - Mother's Milk. The Preserver of Health - Ghirardelli's Ground Chocolate. It is packed in Hermetically Sealed Cans. Always Fresh. Cannot Lose It's Strength." (sic) The inside back cover says "Ghirardelli's Ground Chocolate Strengthens the body. Quiets the nerves. Feeds the brain. More palatable and easier digested than any other cocoa preparation." At the bottom it says, "D. Ghirardelli Company, San Francisco, Originators of Ground Chocolate." There are no page numbers.
