Second Annual Cesar E. Chavez Program to include
Commemorating the 10th Anniversary of the Cesar E. Chavez Collection


FILM & PROGRAM ADMISSION: FREE

The film: "The Fight in the Fields, Cesar Chavez and the Farmworker's Struggle" will be shown in the Cesar Chavez Collection, First Floor Lobby, Main Library from 1:00 - 2:30 p.m. on Thursday March 31, 2005.

Cesar E. Chavez was the founder and President of the United Farm Workers union until his death in 1993. In 1994, Michigan State University MEChA members a hunger strike to force then President McPherson and MSU to honor UFW boycotts. What resulted was a negotiated agreement to honor Cesar E. Chavez with a library collection in the Main Libraries. A speaker's program will include MEChA strike alumni and Professor Jerry Garcia speaking on " Cesar Chavez in the Midwest and the Pacific Northwest". 3:30 - 5:00 p.m.
