Remote Storage Request Form

Material with the Remote Storage location in the MSU Library catalog is housed in North Lansing.  To request an item from Remote Storage, click on the Get It! button located in the catalog record.  After logging in with your MSU NetID or Community Borrower ID, follow the prompts to select the materials that you need.

If there is no Get It! button present, or if you need to borrow more than 10 volumes of a title, please email lib.remote@msu.edu and include your name, title of the item, volumes needed, and MSU NetID or community borrower number. 

Requested items are picked up every weekday (except University holidays or days when the MSU Main Library is closed). Material requested before 2pm Monday-Friday will be available at the Main Library Circulation Desk that same day by 5pm. Material requested after 2 pm Monday-Friday will be available by 5pm the next open weekday. Material requested on weekends, holidays, closed days, or after 2 pm Friday will be available by 5pm Monday (or the next open weekday).

If you wish to view items from Remote Storage but are not eligible for (or do not wish to obtain) an MSU Library Community Card, please e-mail lib.remote@msu.edu.

If you do not have an MSU ID or library card, you are eligible to apply for an "MSU Community Library Card" if you meet the following requirements: Michigan resident, at least 18 years of age, with a current Michigan driver's license imprinted with your street address -- or a State of Michigan identification card with your street address -- and no outstanding charges from a previous MSU library account.

Delivery Options
Delivery is only for MSU faculty/staff and students in Veterinary Medicine or at the Kellogg Biological Station (Gull Lake).
Because much of the material in Remote Storage is fragile, delivery via campus mail is not available. We will hold the item for you at the Main Circulation Desk, or it can be delivered by library courier to one of our Branch Libraries (where it will be available according to the same schedule as above).
NOTE: Journals available online are an exception -- they will not be delivered to a branch library, but will be held only at Main Library Circulation.
