Learning SuDocs Call Numbers

This interactive tutorial is sponsored by the Continuing Education Fund Working Group of the Education Committee of the American Library Association's Government Documents Round Table. Designed by Becky Fox, Michigan State University Libraries, Government Documents Library.

This tutorial is designed to teach staff or student workers the SuDocs classification or call number system.  The first section, SuDocs Basics, gives a brief overview of the system and focuses on the three most important things to remember. The second section is an interactive quiz with multiple choice and true/false questions, where even wrong answers teach a lesson. In the third section, you can arrange books on a shelf, check to see if the order is correct, try again if you're wrong, and go on to try your skill with three other call number sequences.
