Worker Safety

We all have probably seen in the news the tragic mine accidents in West Virginia. According to the National Safety Council (http://www.nsc.org/basics/InjuryFacts2005-06_p031.pdf) one person dies on the job every 106 minutes. One person dies each hour, 14 people each day, and 100 people each week in the United States for a total of 4,952 people in 2004. That is not taking in consideration the number of deaths in other countries, in particular in developing countries that do not have the same safeguards.

Some other deadly mine accidents from CNN.com (http://www.cnn.com/2006/US/01/04/mine.explosion.0314/index.html) are:
