AIDS/HIV

Five people worldwide die of AIDS every minute of every day.

Approximately 40,000 new HIV infections occur each year in the United States, about 70 percent among men
and 30 percent among women. Of these newly infected people, half are younger than 25 years of age.

October is Aids Awareness Month and World Aids Day is December 1, 2003. Many people wear red ribbons on these days.
The red ribbon is the international symbol of AIDS awareness; a symbol of respect for those who have died of AIDS, of concern for those
living with it, and reminder to us all of the constant need to keep up the fight against AIDS.

Here are some titles from all of our Government Document Collections that discuss AIDS/HIV.
