Bureau of Transportation Statistics
Data is available by mode (avaiation, maritime, highway, transit, rail, pipeline, bike/pedestrian, etc) and subject (safety, freight transport, passenger travel, infrastructure, economic/financial, social/demographic, energy, environment, and national security. Databases, graphs, and tables display the information.
Energy Information Administration (EIA)
The Energy Information Administration (EIA) is a statistical agency of the U.S. Department of Energy. They have data like amount and prices on the various types of energy sources and also data on topics like the environment, households, buildings, industry, and geographic data. It includes information on petroleum.
Fatality Analysis Reporting System (FARS)
The NHTSA gets some of their data from FARS for their reports. They have data on accident trends, crashes, vehicles, people, and states. The data is available in text and Excel.
General Estimates System (GES)
The NHTSA also gets some of their data from GES for their reports. Data for GES come from a nationally representative sample of police reported motor vehicle crashes of all types, from minor to fatal. There is a GES FTP link that links to data by year. There are documents explaining the data and variables. The data is available in text and SAS.
National Center for Statistics and Analysis of the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA)
The reports and data cover topics including accident trends, crashes, vehicles, people, and states. The Traffic Safety Facts Annual Report gives good information and is a good starting point to see what information is available.
The NHTSA also has data on Vehicle Safety Research.

Available through the US Department of Transportation's Federal Highway Administration, the Highway Statistics Series consists of annual reports containing analyzed statistical data on motor fuel; motor vehicles; driver licensing; highway-user taxation; State and local government highway finance; highway mileage, and Federal aid for highways. This data is presented in tabular format as well as selected charts and has been published each year since 1945. Every ten years since 1945, a Summary of Highway Statistics has been published. These publications include a general summary of information on highways, their use, and financing. Much of the same data as shown in the annual series are provided in yearly trend format to the current year.
International Traffic Safety Data and Analysis Group (IRTAD)
Available through the OECD, the IRTAD provides an aggregated database, in which international accident and victim as well as exposure data are collected on a continuous basis. Full access is only available to members, but they do have some freely available data too including road fatalities by type of road, road usage (pedestrians, bicyclists, motorized two-wheelers, or cars), or age.
