Copying
The Main Library Copy Center located on 2-West is available to copy material at the following rates: Black and White copies
8 ½ x 11 inch paper eight cents (.08) per copy
8 ½ x 14 inch paper eight cents (.08) per copy
Copies made on transparencies eight cents (.08) per copy

Transparencies may be purchased at .50 plus tax (.53)
Self-service paper copiers from microfilm or microfche are available at $.15 each.

The Main Library and Branch libraries have coin operated copy machines available at ten cents (.10) per copy.

Patrons may copy their own materials or materials may be left for copying by the Main Library Copy Center staff for a small service charge. Copying services may be limited according to the University's copyright guidelines.

Cash and charge card sales for products are subject to Michigan sales tax.

Visa and Mastercard charges, accepted at Main Library only, require the Copy Center attendant to fill out a charge form. The customer must have a valid card and be authorized to use the account.

No paperwork is required for self-serve cash sales. Patrons copy the material and pay the cashier for each copy made. Receipts are available upon request.

University departmental charge account sales require the customer to complete a charge slip which includes the departmental account number to be charged, department's name, main office address and telephone number. Each month, the charges are consolidated into detailed billing statements, which are mailed to the appropriate departments. A list of accounts, along with the corresponding total charges being billed, is sent to the Accounting Department. As a result, the charges are debited by journal entry on the department's monthly fund ledger.

Additional services available include supplies, binding and color copying.

Printing

Library computers can send prints to the Copy Center (2-West) for 5 cents per page, payable by cash, check, Visa/MasterCard, or MSU departmental account number (for those not eligible for, or not interested in, e-token accounts).

To avoid frustration with Copy Center printing, please read the following carefully before choosing the Copy Center printer. If you have questions, please ask at the Copy Center before printing.

The default print option on all library computers is E-token. If you wish to print and don’t have an E-token account, you must click on “File,” then “Print,” and choose Copy Center. (If you don't have E-tokens and click on the printer icon on the top toolbar, the print will go to the E-token printer and disappear.)

EXCEPTION FOR PDF files: To print a PDF document from Adobe Acrobat, you must use the print icon on the top toolbar within the Adobe window (NOT drop-down “File” menu) and choose Copy Center.

Please be careful not to print the same thing more than once and keep track of how many print jobs you request in case someone before you left jobs unprinted. If you ask us to print all jobs from your workstation, you must pay for every printed page, even if you find there are duplicates because something was printed more than once or was someone else's print.

To request your prints, you must have the identification letters and numbers (Example: Lib4wPC2, Lib2wPC12, ...) from the PC that sent your prints. Please remember that code before going to the Copy Center.

Nothing will be printed until you request printing in person at the Copy Center (which must be done within 2 hours or the print job will be deleted). There may be others ahead of you requesting printing, so please allow plenty of time before the two-hour deadline in case you have to wait.

Tip:
It is best to print no more than 10 print jobs before checking with Copy Center Staff to be sure all prints are arriving successfully.
