Configuring Internet Explorer 5.x on Mac OSX

Internet Explorer 5.x - cable modem/dsl configuration


1.From the menu bar select Explorer, then go to Preferences. You can also quickly open the Preferences dialog window by using the keystroke combination of the " Apple Key + ;"






2.In the Internet Explorer Preferences window, open the Network settings.
Then select Proxies. The proxy configuration window will appear on the right.






3. Select the checkbox to use the web proxy server. This will open System Preferences and start up the Network configuration panel.

 

4.When the window opens, click the checkbox and enter the following information in the
Web Proxy (HTTP)
fields:

Address:
proxy.msu.edu
Port:
8080

(If you have specific domains or hosts that you do not want the Proxy Server to work with, just enter either the domain names or IP addresses in the the field "Bypass proxy settings for these
Hosts & Domains".






5. The proxy settings are now in place. Click OK to close all of the dialog box windows. You will have to Restart your web browser for the changes to fully take effect.





6 Open your browser this should automatically activate the UserID and Password login window as it connects. Enter your MSUNet ID and your MSUNet Password to login.
