MSU Libraries' Special Collections is home to a rare collection of roughly 3,500 agricultural equipment sales catalogs, promotional brochures, price lists, owner's manuals, and illustrated parts lists dating from the late 19th century through the 1940s - one of the largest publicly-held collections of its kind in the United States. This exhibit showcases a representative sampling of items, from various decades, countries, and manufacturers - Advance Rumely (later Allis Chalmers), Avery Power Machinery, Belle City Manufacturing, Caterpillar, Case, Clayton & Shuttleworth Ltd., Ford, Huber Manufacturing, John Deere, Massey-Harris, Matthew Moody & Sons, Nichols and Shepherd (later Oliver), Port Huron Engine & Thresher, and Wood Bros. Thresher, to name a few. Whether you are a vintage tractor enthusiast, historian of science, or nostalgic baby-boomer with rural roots, you're sure to enjoy this fascinating, illustrated panorama of the history of agricultural technology! Visit our website for a partial list of the 150 different manufacturers and suppliers represented in the collection.

Exhibit created by Anita Ezzo and Theresa Moore. Special thanks to MSU Museum for the loan of vintage toy farm machinery.
