Database of the Month: BusinessDecision

BusinessDecision is a powerful web-based software service available through the Michigan eLibrary (MeL.org). BusinessDecision enables you to research consumer market data, demographic data, and market segmentation data associated with geographies you customize such as addresses, ZIP Codes, cities, and much more. For example, it contains basic demographics, current businesses, household expenditures, Tapestry lifestyle segment data, and also hard-to-find street traffic counts. It also allows multiple addresses to be uploaded into the map.

To get started, create an account using your email address. When you click on "Create Account" the vendor sends you a confirmation email. You must be located in Michigan to create the account.

If you try to access BusinessDecision from out of state, you will be re-directed to an authentication page which will allow you to enter your Michigan ID/drivers license number. Then you can log in with the account you created.
