MAGIC Online Catalog Tutorial

MAGIC is the MSU Libraries' Online Catalog. It is a searchable listing of items owned by the MSU Libraries (as well as the Library of Michigan). These items include:
  • Books
  • Periodicals (Journals, Magazines, Newspapers)*
  • Government Documents
  • Maps
  • Movies (VHS and DVD)
  • Sound Recordings (including CDs)
*NOTE: MAGIC does NOT allow you to search the contents of periodicals, meaning it will not retrieve any individual magazine, journal, or newspaper articles. To search for articles in journals, magazines, and newspapers, you must first use a periodical index.

This self-guided introduction will familiarize you with several of the common search options and other features of the MAGIC Online Catalog by guiding you through simple, clear steps and showing examples.
