How to Obtain Materials That Were Previously Housed at the Veterinary Medical Center Library

First, check the MSU Libraries' Catalog. Books designated with location REFERENCE or RESERVE must be used in the Main Library. Most books that show AVAILABLE as their status may be checked out either in person from the Main Library or by a method below:

MSU FACULTY MSU faculty and staff members may request that books be checked out to them and delivered to their offices or branch libraries. After finding an item in the MSU Libraries catalog, use the Faculty Delivery link in the catalog to request that it be checked out to a MSU faculty/staff member and sent to his/her campus office or held for pickup at a branch library. The Faculty Delivery link is the call number to the right of the status column of the book's record (under Faculty Delivery).

Books may be returned to the Main Library in person, by campus mail, Main Library drive up book return (on Red Cedar Drive), or one of the library branches on campus. See more information on returning material.

Articles or book chapters not available online can be scanned and sent to faculty electronically using the MARS service.

MSU CVM PROFESSIONAL & GRADUATE students may request books available for check out to be delivered to the F-101 Vet Med reception desk by logging into Iliad and requesting material. If you are a first time Illiad user go to the New User Registration for ILLiad form and register. Be sure to indicate that your department is Veterinary Medicine. If you already have an Illiad account, check that you selected Veterinary Medicine as your department. If this needs to be changed, please contact InterLibrary Services or call (517) 884-6398. Note that books are checked out to you before they are delivered.

MSU UNDERGRADUATE students, including those in the Veterinary Technology program, must check out books in person at the Main Library.

FOR EVERYONE: Material from another library (not MSU) obtained through interlibrary loan, such as UBorrow, may be picked up at the Main Library or one of the branch libraries and returned to a service desk at one of those. If you need to indicate a branch library for pick-up of interlibrary loan materials, please contact InterLibrary Services or call (517) 884-6498. Materials obtained through MelCat may only be picked up at the Main Library.
