(1) Godort of Michigan Membership Meeting, May 4, 2001
Chair Debbi Schaubman called the meeting to order at 3:15 p.m., May 4, 2001, at the Library of Michigan following a presentations by Stephen Henson on "The Disaster Response Plan" and Kurt Metzger on "Census 2000 Update."
Southeast Michigan Council of Governments Requests Assistance:
Former documents librarian Sally Lawler wrote to Debbi to solicit a Godort of Michigan funding/assistance for the Southeast Michigan Council of Governments for a census project.. The Council is looking for funds to develop software that would facilitate the creation of census profiles. After a discussion, it was suggested that Debbi request a formal proposal from the Council and ask if they have considered partnering with Michigan Information Center or MIMIC at Wayne State University.
Treasurer's Report:
Shawn Nicolson reported that GODORT is in good financial health with a balance of $6115.23 as of May 3. He is trying to locate an interest bearing account for GODORT funds.
Election of Officers:
Ballots were marked and counted, resulting in the following slate of officers:
- President: Sharon Bradley, Thomas M. Cooley Law School Library
- Secretary: Kelly Carter, University of Detroit Library
- Director-at-Large: Charlie Pelkey, Library of Michigan
The meeting adjourned at 3:50 p.m.

(2) Michigan Council Meeting Scheduled for June 26
The next meeting of the Michigan Council of Federal Depository Libraries is scheduled for June 26, 2001 in the Board Room of the Library of Michigan. The meeting starts at 9:30 and will end by 4:00. Council is planning the statewide biennial meeting for Fall 2001 and working on updating Appendix E of the state plan, the disposal guidelines, to try to clarify them and eliminate some of the problems. A draft of the revisions worked on to date will be sent to depository coordinators during the week of June 18.
If you have question or comments, contact any Council member. If you'd like to attend, please let us know at govdoc@libraryofmichigan.org. Council typically orders in a deli lunch. Parking at LM is $.50/hour or $4.00/day. Be aware that I-496 is closed for repair between US-127 and Pine Streets; check the LM website for alternative routes.
