Clare Beck, Government Documents Librarian, Eastern Michigan University,
Ypsilanti, had an article published in the January 1996 issue of American Libraries.
The article, "A 'Private' Grievance Against Dewey", reviews archival letters which
shed light on Dewey's shady reputation with women colleagues and in particular,
Adelaide Hasse.
Carole Callard, according to a post card received at the Library of Michigan in late February,
is hard at work inspecting the University of St. Thomas and the Virgin Islands Territorial
Library.
Sandy Calemme, former Documents Librarian at University of Detroit Mercy, had an
article published in the January 1996 issue of DTTP. The article is entitled
"Merging Two Depository Libraries into One". In case you want to congratulate her,
her new address is 1025 South Hiawassee Rd., Apt. 2211, Orlando, Florida 32835.
Doug Clore has resigned his job as Documents Librarian at Benton Harbor Public
Library as of January 1, 1996; the position has been advertised in American Libraries.

Wayne Deri has resigned from her position as Documents Librarian at
St. Clair County Library.
Kelly Eastwood is the new Documents Librarian at Northern Michigan University.
Susan Field has accepted the position of Documents Librarian at St. Clair County
Library and attended her first GODORT of Michigan meeting after only a week or so on
the job. Way to go Susan!
Richard Goerner has resigned his position as Documents Librarian at Michigan
Tech; Teresa Spence will be the contact person until a replacement is found.
Arthur Hietala, longtime GODORT of Michigan member and Documents Librarian at Oakland Community College/Orchard Ridge
campus, has gone on permanent medical disability. Art now resides at a longterm care
facility in Walled Lake, Michigan. GODORT of Michigan veterans will miss Art's contributions
and his friendly, unassuming manner.
Karl Katasfiasz has been promoted to Head of Reference, Ellis Reference and
Information Center, Monroe County Library System. Way to go Karl. [Godort of Michigan
members should be aware that Karl gave several great presentations on government
documents issues at Godort of Michigan meetings before being promoted.

Congratulations to Michael McDonnell, Western Michigan University, for volunteering
to serve on the GPO Superseded Documents Committee which will be publishing a 1996
edition of the Superseded List. Michael will be focusing on "GAO" and "TD4.1: - end" publications.
Debbi Schaubman, Acting Head of the Government Documents Library, Main Library,
Michigan State University, has created a number of new web pages that should be of interest
to international documents librarians, including :
Robert (Bob) Schroeder, a new full-time librarian at the McNichols Campus Library at the University
of Detroit, Mercy, will be managing government documents while Sandy Calemme is
on a leave of absence.
Ann Walasky is the new documents librarian at Oakland Community College,

Carol Wilson, Information Resources Specialist, National Center for Manufacturing
Sciences (NCMS), reports that the NCMS home page now provides public access to their
catalog and that the NCMS Manufacturing Information Resource Center (MIRC) has
its own home page. Check it out at http://www.ncms.org.

Carol Wilson also reports that she is getting married in July 1996 and will be moving from
Ann Arbor, Michigan to Raleigh, North Carolina. In addition to selling her condo and planning
a wedding, she'll be job hunting too. Her future husband, Ed Gehringer, is a computer
science professor at North Carolina State University. While she'll miss her family and
friends, she's looking forward to warmer weather in the winter. Godort of Michigan extends
