MAIN LIBRARY REFERENCE LAW TOOLS/REPORTERS COLLECTION |

Digests are compilations of brief abstracts summarizing court cases on particular legal topics. Each abstract provides the title of the case and parallel citations to both official and nonofficial sources. They are grouped alphabetically by subject classifications with numbers representing subtopics. If you need to find cases revolving on a particular point of law, use the descriptive word indexes to identify the topic desired. If you know the name of the case or the name of the plaintiff, check the table of cases volume(s) under the appropriate entry. If you only know the defendant's name, check the defendant-plaintiff table volume(s). If you only know the popular name of a case, look for the popular name tables or consult Shephard's Acts and Cases by Popular Name located at the Reference Desk on the 1st floor of the Main Library. When using any digest volume, always check the pocket parts for more current information. Also check through any issues of the relevant reporters released subsequent to the end of your digest's indexing.
