Learn and Serve - Michigan School-Based grants are available to establish or expand service-learning in your school district. The goal of the funding is to establish sequential service-learning opportunities so that all students will have at least one service-learning experience at the elementary, middle, and high school levels. Learn and Serve - Michigan School-Based funds are granted to schools who are engaging their students in service-learning - real hands-on learning - through planned curriculum that involves service to the community.

Current programs include:

• Anchor Organizations Program supports the projects and programs of regional and statewide, professionally directed major arts and cultural institutions.
• Arts and Learning Program supports quality arts education activities conducted by skilled artists in schools and communities, as well as arts education partnerships between schools and community-based organizations.
• Artists in Residence for Education Program supports long and short term residencies of qualified, professional artists in various settings whle providing educational services to K-12 schools.
• Arts Organization Development Program (AOD) supports strategic planning and implementation projects of small professional arts organizations.
• Arts Projects Program supports art projects and activities provided for the public and undertaken by arts and non-arts, non-profit organizations.
• Big Culture Lesson Program is a new initiative of the Michigan Council for Arts and Cultural Affairs with funding from the National Endowment for the Arts' Challenge America Program. Projects funded through this program will introduce teachers and students with Michigan’s diverse artistic and cultural resources, generate sustainable models and arts integrated curriculum that can be shared with schools and districts throughout the state.
• Capital Improvement Program supports capital improvement projects through municipalities for arts and cultural facilities.
• Cultural Projects Program supports heritage, cultural and science projects and activities provided for the public and undertaken by non-profit cultural organizations.
• Discretionary Grants Program supports projects initiated by the Council and/or in response to the Michigan Arts Plan.
• Local Arts Agencies Services Program supports projects and services undertaken by community based organizations to sustain, improve and/or expand arts and cultural development within their communities.
• Mini-Grant Regional Regranting Program provides funding to select non-profit organizations to administer and regrant at the local level on behalf of the Council supporting small arts and cultural projects throughout the state in 19 designated regions.
• Partnership Program combines the resources of the State and those of an assortment of local and regional non-profit partner organizations to leverage output and increase delivery of quality services to people and communities throughout the state.
• Rural Arts and Cultural Program supports arts and cultural projects provided by non-profit organizations within 39 designated under served counties.

Career Development Competency Based Curriculum Grants

MIOSHA Consultation Education and Training (CET) Grants

MIOSHA awards CET grants on an annual basis for the development and implementation of safety and health training and services to supplement CET division activities. The CET grant program was initiated as part of the MIOSHA effort to help assure a safe and healthful workplace. Transportation Economic Development Fund

Enacted by the legislature in 1987, the Transportation Economic Development Fund (TEDF) was created to assist in the funding of highway, road, and street projects necessary to support economic growth. The TEDF provides for the distribution of money to counties and municipalities through three formulas and two grant programs. The TEDF authorizes funding for the following categories and specifies those agencies eligible to receive funding, and criteria and requirements for eligible projects:

Category A - Road projects related to target industry development and redevelopment opportunities

Category C - Reduction of traffic congestion in urban counties

Category D - Road improvements in rural counties to create an all-season road network

Category E - Construction or reconstruction of roads essential to the development of commercial forests in Michigan

Category F - Road and street improvements in cities in rural counties.
Agencies eligible to apply for TEDF funds are the Michigan Department of Transportation, county road commissions, and city and village street agencies.

The Venture Michigan Fund and the 21st Century Investment Fund
The Venture Michigan Fund and the 21st Century Investment Fund are Michigan's two fund-of-funds poised to make over $200 million in investments in Michigan-based equity firms. Investment firms with a focus on Michigan companies are encouraged to apply. Credit Suisse serves as fund manager for both fund-of-funds providing easy access for equity firms. The Venture Michigan Fund will focus its investments on early stage venture capital funds while the 21st Century Investment Fund will augment the spectrum of capital from private equity and mezzanine to venture capital. Additionally the 21st Century Investment Fund may make co-investments in individual companies alongside qualified funds.

Low-Income and Energy Efficiency Fund (LIEE)

The Customer Choice and Electricity Reliability Act of 2000 authorized the creation of a Low-Income and Energy Efficiency Fund, administered by the Michigan Public Service Commission via grants to qualifying organizations. The purpose of the fund is to provide shut-off and other protection for low-income customers and to promote energy efficiency by all customer classes.
