Civitan International

Local Civitan groups support a wide range of community service activities. The Civitan International Foundation also supports programs which assist children and persons with developmental disabilities. Check out the Local Clubs section for links to local Civitan groups.

Elks of the United States

Provide scholarships for youth attending college among other service projects. The Elks National Foundation also provides grants to the first 250 Lodges who pledge to hold a drug-, alcohol-, and violence-free party for the youth of their communities each year. The Michigan Elks Association assists handicapped children under the age of 18. The Major Project provides facilitating services essential to treatment such as special examinations, therapy and special prescriptions. The Major Project also sponsors attendance at Speech Camps, Diabetic Camps, and Special Therapy Camps. The overall aim of the Michigan Elks Major Project is to help handicapped children become self-sufficient, healthy, contributing citizens of our communities.. Jaycees (Michigan)

The Michigan Jaycess support a variety of projects such as preventing child suicides, cancer, etc. They also support a Junior Chamber Mission Inn Foundation house in Grand Rapids "to care for children and adolescents whose lives are affected by HIV/AIDS."

Contributions limited to organizations in western Michigan area.

Lions Clubs International

Lions are members of community service clubs, dedicated to the idea that the men and women who live in a community are in the best position to know who needs help and why. More than 44,500 strong, these local clubs are part of the world's largest such organization, with 1.4 million members serving in more than 180 countries and areas. The association is both non-political and non-sectarian. Lions are now best known for their sight-related programs, including SightFirst, the world's largest blindness prevention program.

Individual Masonic Clubs throughout Michigan can request scholarships from the Masonic Foundation of Michigan for individuals up to $750. Rotary International Foundation

The Rotary Foundation is a not-for-profit corporation that supports the efforts of Rotary International to achieve world understanding and peace through international humanitarian, educational, and cultural exchange programs. The Foundation's Humanitarian Programs fund international Rotary club and district projects to improve the quality of life, providing health care, clean water, food, education, and other essential needs primarily in the developing world. One of the major humanitarian programs is PolioPlus, which seeks to eradicate the polio virus worldwide by the year 2000. Through its Educational Programs the Foundation provides funding for some 1200 students to study abroad each year. Grants are also awarded to university teachers to teach in developing countries and for exchanges of business and professional people.
The Capital Area District Library also provides a Local Links : Service Clubs Directory with information on local Rotary Clubs. The Rotary Club of Lansing Foundation recently provided "Signature Project" grants totaling $130,000 to four local organizations in 2007 : Riverwalk Theater, Impression 5 Science Center, H.O.P.E. Scholarship Program, and Haven House.
