    Program: City of Lansing General Funds Minigrants
    Funding Source: Funded from allocations to the City of Lansing Department of Human Relations and Community Services and administered by the Arts Council of Greater Lansing.
    Focus: The funds are provided to assist small nonprofit arts organizations in planning arts or cultural events that target Lansing residents.
    Eligibility: Non-profit arts organizations in the greater Lansing area planning an arts or cultural event whose target audiences are City of Lansing residents. Applicants must have non profit status evidenced through by-laws, articles of incorporation, constitution, tax determination letter, or other legal documents. Events must take place within Lansing city limites. Agencies currently receiving City of Lansing General funds are ineligible.
    Funding Available: Grants up to $3000 may be requested for the annual cycle. The total amount available for the upcoming year is $13,800.
    Application Procedures - Deadlines: The application deadline is the first Monday of August for projects taking place between Sept. 1 and June 30. Application packets are available between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. weekdays at the Arts Council Office or may be requested by telephone.


    Program: Ingham County Hotel/Motel Tax Funds for Arts and Tourism
    Funding Source: Five percent (5%) of Ingham County hotel/motel room tax receipts, per Ingham County Board of Commissioners resolution.
    Focus: The production of publicity and promotional materials utilized to attract out-of-county visitors into Ingham County. Eligibility: Non-profit arts and cultural organizations located in Ingham County established primarily for cultural, eductional, artistic, historical or entertainment purposes. Applicants must have non-profit status as evidenced by an Internal Revenue Service 501 (c)(3) letter of determination or a copy of the Articles of Incorporation as filed with the State of Michigan, Department of Commerce.
    Funding Available: The maximum grant for any one agency shall be no more than ten percent (10%) of the grant funds available for regranting. The total amount available to grant is around $77,000.
    Application Procedures - Deadlines: Applications are available the last Friday in January and are due the last Friday in February. The funding period is January 1-December 31.


    Program: MCACA Minigrant Program.
    Funding Source:Funded by the State of Michigan through the Michigan Council for Arts and Cultural Affairs and run by 19 regional regranting agencies across the state. The program for Region 6 Ingham, Eaton, and Clinton Counties - is administered by the Arts Council of Greater Lansing. (Applicants residing elsewhere may contact the ACGL for information on the location of their MCACA regranting agency.)
    Focus: Locally developed, high quality art projects that are special opportunities to address local arts needs and increase public access to the arts. Minigrants support a broad range of artistic expression from all cultures through projects which preserve, produce, or present the traditional or contemporary arts that employ Michigan artists.
    Eligibility: Non-profit organizations in Ingham, Eaton, and Clinton counties planning an arts or cultural event. Applicants must have non-profit status evidenced through an IRS determination letter (501(c)(3)) or State of Michigan Certificate of Incorporation. Decisions are made by a panel from submitted applications.
    Funding Available: Provides up to $4,000 in financial assistance, on a matching basis. Requests for minigrant funds may not exceed one-half of the project's cost. The total amount available to grant is $42,700.
    Application Procedures - Deadlines: Application packets are available between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. weekdays at the Arts Council Office or may be requested by telephone. The application process is divided into three rounds during the state's fiscal year and application must be made during the round in which the project will begin. Application deadlines are the first Friday in June for projects beginning between October 1 and January 31, the first Friday in October for projects beginning between February 1 and May 31, and the first Friday in February for projects beginning on or after June 1 and ending by September 30.

    The Catholic Campaign for Human Development (CCHD) helps break the cycle of poverty by encouraging individuals to work together to strengthen their neighborhoods and create new economic opportunities for themselves, their families, and their neighbors. By supporting the grassroots efforts of community groups, CCHD brings hope, fosters self-sufficiency, and provides tools for permanent improvement. During its 30+ year history, CCHD has funded more than 4,000 self-help projects developed by grassroots groups of poor persons. Each year CCHD distributes national grants to more than 300 projects based in local communities. In addition, hundreds of smaller projects are funded through the 25 percent share of the CCHD collection retained by dioceses.     Lowe's Charitable and Educational Foundation awards more than $1.5 million annually to individuals and organizations across the United States. Founded in 1957, the Foundation’s primary philanthropic focus areas include community improvement projects, education scholarships for trade disciplines and environmental initiatives that enhance the natural environment. The Foundation considers requests only from 501(c)(3) organizations. In 2003, Lowe’s awarded $600,000 to schools from Philadelphia to Salt Lake City for initiatives such as enhancing learning environments or making much-needed building repairs.

    Mayor's Neighborhood Advisory Board Grant Program

    Purpose: To provide funding to support community improvement projects.
    History: The 12-member advisory board, which reviews all submitted proposals, was the brainchild of former Lansing Mayor Jim Crawford. Money for the program comes out of the city's general fund budget financed by property and income taxes.
    Application forms: available at City Hall, 124 W. Michigan, Lansing community centers, or the Lansing Public Library, 401 S. Capitol.
    Application procedures: Applications for this year's grants must come from an organized group such as a parent teacher association or neighborhood watch group.

This program involves fundraising efforts by nonprofit organizations at local SAM'S Club with the participation and support of company associates. After approval for fundraising, the SAM'S Club Foundation will match up to $1,000 of the funds raised at the SAM'S CLUB location. Nonprofit organizations, public schools, churches, and government agencies qualify for the Matching Grant Program.
