Up to fifteen graduate fellowships of $2,000, $2,500, or $3,000 will be available for 2005-2006, supported by endowment funds of the AACC Foundation, and from annual contributions by companies and AACC divisions. Graduate awards are paid directly to the winners in September after AACC receives verification of registration for the fall semester or quarter from the appropriate department head. The purpose of the fellowship program is to encourage graduate research in grain-based food science and technology. Research in such disciplines as genetics, horticulture, nutrition, microbiology, biochemistry, engineering, or chemistry is not eligible unless it is directly related to the student's primary research program dealing with a grain-based food science and technology related areas.

    Each year the Child Nutrition Foundation plays an integral role in helping child nutrition professionals achieve their professional and educational goals by awarding several scholarships and grants. Scholarships include:

  • The Child Nutrition Foundation, with funding from Schwan’s Food Service, offers $500 scholarships for ASFSA members to attend Annual National Conferences.
  • CNF Professional Growth Scholarships are available to qualified ASFSA members who meet the criteria for the Schwan's Food Service Scholarship and who have also successfully completed at least one course toward a master's degree.
  • The GED Jump Start Scholarship provides eligible ASFSA members with funds to pay for GED classes, GED study materials, and the GED test fee
  • Funded by Handgards, Inc. and friends of Nancy, the Nancy Curry Scholarship will be available for the first time in May 2003 to ASFSA members employed in school foodservice who undertake undergraduate or graduate study at a vocational/technical institution, community college, college or university. Children of active ASFSA members who pursue a school foodservice-related field of study are also eligible.
  • Schwan's Food Service Scholarship is available to ASFSA members who pursue formal education in a school foodservice-related field and express a desire to make school foodservice a career. Children of active ASFSA members who pursue a school foodservice-related field of study are also eligible.

    Through a partnership with the Lincoln Foodservice Products Company, the Child Nutrition Foundation provides research-funding opportunities to qualified applicants.     If you have access to the world wide web and are willing to fill in the online forms, this service promises a free customized list of financial aid sources. FastWeb is actually a searchable database of more than 400,000 private sector scholarships, fellowships, grants, and loans from more than 3,000 sources for all levels of higher education. First-time visitors have to register (first and last name and a user ID), then complete a profile, including background and fields of study. Registrants then receive a list of all currently relevant funding sources. The registration information is stored and can be used on subsequent visits. The entire sign-up process, and delivery of available funding sources, can be a bit tedious: about five to twenty minutes, depending on the connection speed. Approximately 500 new scholarships are added to the database daily, so registrants can stay current.
