The first edition published in October 1997 contained close to 22,000 foundations world wide. The second, two-volume edition has now doubled that number. Volume I Europe includes 20,743 foundations while Volume II Africa, America, Asia, and Oceana documents 20,500 entries. Each entry provides the name of the foundation, address, telephone, e-mail, fax, year of foundation's creation, chair, managing director, donors, assets, income and expenditures, and aims.

Howard G. Buffett Foundation (Decatur, Ill.) : To provide 120 boreholes and 2,000 latrines, as well as hygiene education, to 120,000 people in Sudan: $2.7-million over four years to CARE (Atlanta).
