American Humane Second Chance Fund

Up to $2,000 per organization, per year is available for American Humane agency members to help with the cost of medical treatments for animals that have been victims of abuse or neglect. Funding is awarded on a case by case basis. Behavior modification and/or training are outside the scope of this fund.

The ASPCA Equine Fund is "committed to helping the mares and foals who are victims of the pregnant mares' urine industry," as well as, "activities with excessive risk, inhumane substitutes for real training..., indiscriminate and irresponsible breeding, and the fate of our nation's wild horses and burrows". Nonprofit equine welfare organizations in the United States can apply. Purpose of organization must be "in alignment with [the ASPCA's] efforts to protect horses."Grants normally range between $500 and $5,000 and will "not exceed 10% of an organization's current operating budget." Animal Assistance Foundation

Applicants must be 501(c)(3) organizations located in Colorado or directly benefiting Colorado pet owners. Grants for long-term funding, endowment funds, or retirement of debt will not be considered. AAF is interested in making grants that demonstrate new approaches to animal care and the understanding of the importance of animals. Priorities are to promote the welfare of animals regarding (1) accessibility to care, (2) quality of care, and (3) self-sufficiency of animal care organizations.

Animal Legal Defense Fund
Student Animal Legal Defense Fund Grants
The SALDF Project Grant grants, a program of the Animal Legal Defense Fund, are designed to assist recognized chapters in fulfilling their mission “to provide a forum for education, advocacy, and scholarship aimed at protecting the lives and advancing the interests of animals through the legal system, and raising the profile of the field of animal law.” The maximum grant amount is $500 and each SALDF chapter is eligible for $500 in grants per semester ($1000 per fiscal year). Applications may be submitted at any time and will generally be considered within two weeks from the date ALDF receives a completed application. All applications must be signed by the group chair or leader as representative of the chapter. SALDF travel grants are also available to chapters for designated events such as ALDF sponsored conferences and NCAL’s National Animal Advocacy Competitions.     The goal of the DJ&T Foundation is to fund low-cost or free spay/neuter clinics and subsidize voucher programs as a way to help relieve animal overpopulation. Clinic Grants are awarded to organizations that operate, or are planning to open, low-cost spay/neuter clinics, including mobile clinics. Spay/Neuter Assistance Program (SNAP) Grants are awarded to organizations with established public outreach programs for socialized companion animals with homes or organizations that are planning to establish such a program.     Grant giving in the Welfare of Animals Program has a strong focus on companion animal needs in New Jersey through the foundation’s New Jersey Animal Assistance Program. Though funding is limited, New Jersey shelters may apply for capital improvement projects. The foundation offers grants: 1) to diminish the numbers of unwanted cats and dogs; 2) to improve the conditions under which surrendered animals are kept; and 3) to foster the humane treatment of animals.

Helping to create a more compassionate society, the Foundation partners with focused, progressive, national animal protection organizations.     Meachem Foundation Memorial Grants

    The Meacham Foundation Memorial Grant (administered by the American Humane Association) was established in 1969, in memory of Tressa Meacham, to provide financial assistance to agencies for shelter expansion or improvements. Grant money must be used to increase and/or improve the quality of care given to animals. The fund will not provide for vehicles, operating expenses, or general maintenance and upkeep. Recipients must be incorporated 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations that are current members of AHA at the Agency level. Grants may be awarded in any amount up to $4,000.

    Parks Foundation for Animal Welfare

    The William and Charlotte Parks Foundation for Animal Welfare provides grants for humane programs, including grassroots activities or academic studies in areas such as humane laboratory practices for animals used in research and education; research on euthanasia methods; humane treatment and handling of food animals; issues concerning the use of animals in fur ranching and the trapping of fur-bearing animals; methods of population control of companion animals and of so-called pest animals; and international projects to improve conditions for animals.     Second Chance Fund

    The Second Chance Fund is an exciting initiative that partners American Humane and Bayer Animal Health to help give animal victims of abuse or neglect a second chance at life. The cost to medically treat an abused stray can easily become overwhelming for any animal welfare organization. The Second Chance Fund was established through a generous donation by Bayer Animal Health makers of Advantage® flea control for cats and dogs and K9 Advantix™ mosquito, tick, and flea control for dogs to help offset the cost of treating homeless animal victims of abuse or neglect. Financial assistance is provided, in select cases, to animal welfare organizations responsible for the temporary care of animals as they are prepared for adoption into permanent, loving homes.
