Wild Food Plants at the End of Summer

Tour the W.J. Beal Botanical Garden with assistant curator Peter Carrington and look into the wild food plants, and some of the toxic look-a-likes, that come into their own at the end of summer. No actual tasting, but lots of looking and appreciating the characteristics. Tour starts at 12:10 PM and runs until 12:50 PM, Thursday, September 11, and meets at the Beal Shed by the pond. In case of rain, join us for a virtual tour in the Main Library Reference Instruction Room, first floor.

Plants with Potential Dangers to Family and Pets

We will be focusing on the plants that pose risks, chemical, mechanical, and allergic, to those of us who love to spend those pleasant fall days in the great outdoors, sometimes by including our pets. Traditions through the Trees: Trees on the MSU Campus

Join Dr. Frank Telewski, Professor of Plant Biology and Curator of the W.J. Beal Botanical Garden and Campus Arboretum as he discusses the many historic and more recently planted trees on the MSU campus. The first trees were planted before Professor Beal came to MSU and Professor Beal planted many more, starting the tradition of labeling trees across campus. The diversity of trees on campus compose the living library of biodiversity used extensively in teaching, research and outreach for all who study, work on, or visit the MSU campus.
