History Through the Eyes of Congress

History Through the Eyes of Congress is a series of exhibits using Congressional publications from the Michigan State University Libraries' U.S. Government Documents Collection to illustrate and focus on historical eras or events. The first in this series focuses on soldiers of the Revolutionary War.

Soldiers of the Revolutionary War

The Soldiers of the Revolutionary War exhibit uses letters, journals, proceedings, and proclamations from sources in the U.S. Government Documents Collection, such as the Journals of the Continental Congress, American State Papers, Letters of Delegates to Congress, 1774-1789, and the American Archives, relating to the problems of the Continental Army, its soldiers and leaders. Documents displayed illustrate the numerous and continuous problems with creating and maintaining an army and with soldiers' pay and rations and uniforms and equipment.

Related books on the American Revolution from other Library collections are on display in an adjoining exhibit case.
