| Summer soldiers: a survey & index of Revolutionary War
courts-martial ; by James C. Eagles. Salt Lake City, Utah: Ancestry Inc.,
1986. Main Library, E255.N5 1986 This study reveals the little-known fact that a relatively large number of courts-martial were necessary during the Revolution, and presents overall conclusions drawn from the presentation of detailed abstracts of the individual cases. It gives a new insight into Washington's heroic task of conducting a war under the most frustrating of circumstances, and reveals, among other things, a plot to assassinate him. The list of names of those court-martialled includes their regiment, offense and punishment. |
