Correspondence of Harold Frederic to Charles Miller (Editor of the New York Times) and others including Grover Cleveland; also letters addressed to Frederic and Miller by various correspondents. The collection also includes correspondence and research notes of Prof. Wallace B. Moffett.
Historical Background:
Harold Frederic was an American novelist, journalist, and European correspondent for the New York Times. He was born in Utica, New York in 1856 and died on October 19, 1898 in England at the age of 42. Wallace B. Moffett (b. 1889), a professor in the English Department at Michigan State University in the 1940s, made a study of the career of Harold Frederic.

Most of the letters in this collection were later published in The Correspondence of Harold Frederic, edited by George E. Fortenberry, et al (Fort Worth, Tex.: Texas Christian University Press, 1977)
