Collection Summary:

Botanical specimens and notes, 1859-1876.  Vol. 2 contains flowers collected while Morse served in the 21st Michigan Infantry in the Chattanooga, Tennessee area, Spring 1864.

Historical Background:

Lawyer, Ionia, Michigan; former Michigan state senator, mayor of Ionia, Michigan Supreme Court Justice, and U.S. Consul to Scotland, 1893-1895.
