New Collaborative Technology Lab Opens in Map Library
Tech expansion 18-months in the making comes to the MSU Map Library
The largest reservable technology lab is now open in the MSU Map Library, located in the Main Library on 3-West. The flexible seating plan in W308F comfortably seats 18 people in either a classroom-type setting or at a large conference table. A PC equipped with a DVD and Blu-Ray player is at the front of the room, as well as hookups for Mac and PC laptops. The room also boasts the libraries' first document camera, which allows patrons to project objects such as maps, books, and other documents onto the screen at the front of the room. Coming soon is a state-of-the-art ceiling-mounted camera, which will enable users to record their presentations and utilize Skype. A large magnetic marker board is also in the room, suitable for displaying maps or other large items. Faculty, staff and students can reserve this new lab for no charge, along with the other six collaborative technology labs located within MSU Libraries.
Just outside the new Map Library lab are several new PC workstations with extra-large monitors, access to ArcGIS 9.2, ERDAS Imagine, and AutoCAD, among other software packages, and easy access to the large-format plotter.
