Little Cookbooks: The Alan and Shirley Brocker Sliker Culinary Collection

Best For Drinking & Cooking

A plump chef dressed in white with red tie holds a container of Bensdorp's Royal Dutch Cocoa. At the bottom of the cover in black ink is written, "The Best for Drinking and Cooking." On the back is a large red and yellow container of Bensdorp's Royal Dutch Cocoa. The black text below reads, "Stephen L. Bartlett, Importer, Boston." Inside the front cover is a blue circle with blue text inside the circle stating, "Use 1/2 the quantity of Bensdorp's Cocoa," and below the circle, "that you have used of any other." The pamphlet includes stories of Queen Victoria and the Czar of Russia providing chocolate for their soldiers, a two-page drawing of a Dutch seaside scene, lists of awards received and various chocolate recipes. Color drawings accompany the text.
