The back shows two carnations laid across the company name and address. The front end page has "Table of Contents" in a block of yellow to the left of the list of contents. The first page has an introduction, "Right Eating...Keeps You Swingin'!" followed by information on "Why Be Healthy?" - the importance of rest, exercise and eating healthy, Calorie Talk and "What Should the 'Basic Four' Mean to You?" "Your First Meal...Simple, Sensible, but SO Good!" provides "guideposts": planning, making a shopping list, shopping, reading recipes, serving the meal and a suggested menu with recipes. Other topics include Saucery, 60-Minute "Mix and Match-Up" Meal Ideas, Snack Ideas and Party Fun! Recipes include Meat Loaf Cups, Lump-Free Cream Sauce, Jiffy Beef Stew and Dumplings, Snack-Time Toastwiches and "Do Ahead" Tamale Pie. The last page and back end page is a signed letter from Mary Blake, Director of Carnation Home Service Department, telling teens to form good eating habits and that the "Carnation Evaporated Milk habit can be an important part of your life." At the end is information to send if for a free copy of "Teen-Time Cooking with Carnation." There are color drawn illustrations throughout.
