Recipes range from basic (soup from a can, sandwiches, cake from a mix) to more involved (meat loaf, scrambled eggs, strawberry pie) and have many illustrations showing utensils used and steps in preparation. There is a narrative from Margie throughout the recipes and a promotion (by Margie) for five free pamphlets of Carnation recipes ("If your mother will write to my mother...you can have any or all of these free books for your first cook book library").
