Description:
The front blue wrap-around cover has a panel with nursery rhyme figures: the Cow That Jumped Over the Moon, Humpty Dumpty and the Woman Who Lived in a Shoe. Below is a framed portrait of a happy baby above "Your Contented Baby" in black. The back has a panel toward the top with Old King Cole, Little Red Riding Hood and Hickory, Dickory, Dock" above a frame picture of a can of Carnation Milk and a baby bottle. Below is "From Contented Cows." The front end page has the table of contents with a seal from the Council on Foods and Nutrition of the American Medical Association in black and blue. The first page has a foreword and "A Note From the Author," Ruth Holt Crowley, R.N. Chapters include: A Baby Is Born, Alone At Last, Dinner Is Served, What the Well-Dressed Baby Is Wearing, Sun-Tan In the Modern Manner, "On the Tree Top," A Traveling We Will Go!, The Normal Baby Progresses, Accidents That Happen, The Well Baby Goes to the Doctor Too, "I'm Not a Baby!" and Recipes. Recipes include Beverages, Cereals, Soups, Vegetables, Sauces, Eggs, Fish, Cheese, Meat and Desserts. The outside of each page has a blue border with line drawings and there are several black-and-white photographs of happy babies throughout. Inserted is a typed letter from Mary Blake, Home Service Department, Carnation Company, on Carnation Company letterhead.
